Natural Teeth Whitening - The Least Damaging Method of Bleaching?

So you want to whiten your teeth but you want to do it in a natural way? Luckily for you, there are natural ways of whitening your teeth that do not include the usage of the very aggressive chemical known as hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is used in most whitening kits for use at home. The dentist also uses a gel based on this chemical in order to bleach your teeth. Hydrogen peroxide is very good at making teeth whiter, but it can also damage them if it is not used carefully.

Natural Teeth Whitening

There are a number of home remedies for teeth whitening available. Not all of them are equally efficient. Whichever one is right for you, is a very personal choice. These methods have a lower chance of harming your tooth enamel than carbamide peroxide based whitening methods.

The first thing you can do to bleach your own teeth, is to start eating more vegetables! Veggies such as carrots, celery, cucumbers, broccoli and carrots are all nature's natural toothbrushes. The stains in your teeth can be reduced in darkness if only you would eat more vegetables on a regular basis. You're killing one bird with two stones, really. Not only will your teeth be whiter, but your body will be healthier as well.

The second thing you can do, is going to work a little quicker when it comes to results. Have you ever heard of whitening your teeth using baking soda? Baking soda not only removes stains, but it also kills of bacteria that cause plaque. It's also going to neutralize some acids in your mouth that would otherwise have had a detrimental effect on your tooth enamel. So brushing your teeth with baking soda can be very effective. By mixing it with a very low concentration, say 3%, of hydrogen peroxide, you will make this method even more effective. But be sure to rinse your mouth with water when you're done. You don't want to leave any peroxide in there, because this will damage your teeth.

Simple and Effective Homemade Teeth Whitening With These Four Ingredients

By Scott Groger
All the things we love turn our teeth every color of the rainbow - coffee, chocolate, wine, soda, tea, berries. Teeth whitening is a new craze that's taking the nation by storm, but it also costs money. Wouldn't it be great to have a nice white smile without paying for it?

Actually, you can do it yourself. Homemade teeth whitening is simple and easy to do. You don't have to hop on the bandwagon and get your teeth done at a dental clinic.

Do It With Baking Soda

Baking soda is a natural corrosive. This means that it is great for whitening your teeth. Using baking soda just once a week can go along way to shining up your chompers.

You can either make your own baking soda toothpaste, or simply apply baking soda to any store-bought toothpaste. If you want to whip up your own, just mix it with water. It only takes a little bit of baking soda and just a few drops of water to make it thick and pasty.

It's not the tastiest you've ever had, but it's not so bad either. Brush with this solution, and afterward swish hydrogen peroxide around in your mouth. While the paste is abrasive, the hydrogen peroxide cleanses, which helps to keep your teeth and mouth clean. Afterward, it's a good idea to swish around a little mouthwash.  Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are good for you, but they don't taste great.

Be sure you only do this once a week or so, at most. Applying too much of an abrasive on your teeth will have a reverse effect. Instead of washing calcium deposits and stains off your enamel, you'll end up burning off the enamel, and you'll end up with yellow or brown discolored teeth after all that hard work.

With A Pinch Of Salt...

You can also try adding a pinch of salt to the mixture. Add a tiny bit of salt to your powder before adding water.  While you brush, you'll feel a tingling sensation. This is a more severe program for whitening, so you don't need to do it as often. It's more abrasive than baking soda alone, so it should be done only 2 or 3 times a month.

Be sure to wash your mouth out well afterward with either water or mouthwash.

A Sweeter Solution

For an even better way to a healthy smile, try mixing a strawberry with your paste. Strawberries contain malic acid, which is a natural tooth brightener.

Mash a strawberry until it's pulp. Then, add baking soda and mix. Keep mixing until it is blended completely with the strawberry pulp. Now, use it as your toothpaste.

You can have a brighter smile without all the bother. Get your teeth white the natural way, and it will also save you money.
